Full Windfarm Responses Sent To Planning Officer

Following the formal application by RES for planning permission to construct a 13-tubine wind farm at Wadlow Farm, South East Cambridgeshire MP Jim Paice, together with local councillors Vicky Ford and Richard Barratt, has submitted to the local planning department the detailed responses to his recent survey on the proposal.

Mr Paice said: “My constituents responded in very large numbers to my recent survey on this proposed development and now that the planning application has been submitted by RES it is time for their detailed views to be made known to the council.

“While a significant minority support the proposal, many local people are concerned about the visual impact of the turbines and their effect on property prices, wildlife and Fleam Dyke. These are just some of the important issues that must be taken into account by the planning authority before a decision is made.”

Balsham councillor Vicky Ford said, “The survey raised a number of different issues both for and against the wind farm. It is important that these are addressed. If anyone has other concerns now is the time to raise them.”

Jim has also contacted RES about the possibility of flying a blimp over the proposed site at the height of the tip of one of the turbines, to give local residents a better idea of the development’s visual impact.

Jim said: “This would give local people a clearer idea of the visual impact of the proposed wind farm and at what distances the turbines would be visible.”
