Press Release
9 June 2005Paice Lends Support To Carers Week
South East Cambridgeshire MP Jim Paice is throwing his support behind Carers Week which begins next Monday and has paid tribute to the six million people in the UK who provide unpaid care and support to relatives and friends.
Jim said: “There are almost 10,000 carers in South East Cambridgeshire who provide invaluable support to friends and relatives who would otherwise be unable to manage because of illness, frailty or disability. It is vital that these selfless people receive the help they need to continue caring while leading fulfilling lives of their own and that is what Carers Week is all about. Within a complicated benefits systems there is help available such as the Carers Allowance which I would encourage all carers to take up.”
Paul Matz, Carers Week Manager said: “Jim’s support for Carers Week 2005 is greatly appreciated. If it helps even one carer get access to the support they need, it will have been worthwhile.”
