Paice Seeks Clarity On Stacking Proposals
Changes to air space must be properly debated, says MP
South East Cambridgeshire MP Jim Paice has written to the head of the National Air Traffic Service (NATS) following reports that airspace above his constituency could see significant changes to allow for expansion at Stansted airport.
In his letter to Paul Barron, the Chief Executive Officer of NATS, Mr Paice wrote:
I read with some concern reports that airspace above East Anglia could see significant changes to allow for expansion at Stansted and Luton airports.
The BBC suggests that new stacking sites over Wratting Common in my constituency (South East Cambridgeshire) are being proposed, although I understand that no plans have been finalised.
I would be grateful if you could provide me with details of the proposal for a new holding stack over Wratting Common, including the total area that would be covered, the altitude of the aircraft and the times and distances between them, and the implications for noise pollution.
I would also be interested to know what the timetable is for these new arrangements and how my constituents can take part in the consultation I believe is due to be held.
Mr Paice said: Any proposals for changes to air space that have implications for residents on the ground must be properly debated.
