Jim opens Histon & Impington Feast Festival

Jim with town crier, Tony Appleton.

Today Jim opened the Histon & Impington Feast Festival – the centrepiece of a week of celebrations in the villages traditionally known as the Histon & Impington Feast.

Thousands of people turned out for the revamped Feast Festival on Histon High Street which included a bed push ‘grand prix’, barrel racing and go-karting as well as a treasure hunt, funfair, flower festival and live music. All money raised from the Feast will go to local charities including Blue Smile who offer counselling and support for children in school, Histon Scout Group, Meadows Garden Project and St Andrew’s Stepping Stones.

As well as opening the Feast itself, Jim also opened the redeveloped play area on The Green in Histon.

Jim said, ‘The Feast celebrations are always wonderfully fun community events and this year has been no exception!’

Still to come in the celebrations are a quiz night, musical afternoon, bowls match, tennis tournament and a Songs of Praise event.
